terms of agreement
When the world of fairy tales was falling apart, a contract was written that offered characters a chance at a new life. They would be transported to a new world and they would take on a new form. Their memories would remain intact, but they would take on a new alias. They could never speak of their true form when outside of the city, as doing so would reveal the powerful magic that kept their identities a secret.

welcome
They would be handed a file containing background information on their alias. They would also be provided with living arrangements within the city. Detailed information on these terms can be found below, but before any of this could take place, they must have registered with the organization. Their true identities would be known to the organization and could also be known to others who moved into the city. They would not be transported unless they signed the contract.

safe haven
Everyone in the city of Everview came from another world, and it is public knowledge that the entire population is from somewhere enchanting. Who your character was in their previous world can remain private if you wish, but such knowledge is safe in the city of Everview. If Snow White was known publicly in Everview as Snow White, there is no fear of exposure. If someone were to expose Snow White outside of the city, that person would be taken into custody and face disciplinary actions. In severe cases, those who go against terms of contract can even be banished back to their former worlds.

timeline
The first contracts were written and delivered on April 2, 2017. Your character could have arrived any time between that date and present day. The fairy tale realm sent out a large number of people on April 2, so many characters would have that date as their date of arrival. Some characters might have chosen to stay in the fairy tale realm, but keep in mind that the realm continued to deteriorate as time went on. The later your character's arrival date, the worse condition the realm upon your character's departure. Just something to keep in mind as you write your application!

location
Everview is a fictional city in California, located thirty minutes from Los Angeles. It is cloaked by magic and kept hidden from the mortal world. Citizens can visit other locations outside of the city, but outsiders are not allowed to visit the city. NOTE: While set in present day, this game is set in an alternate universe that is not affected by COVID-19.

magical abilities
Abilities and magic remain with a character upon their arrival to the city. If your character could shift forms in their classic form, they could do the same in their modern form. If your character is a witch with magical powers, she would also have magical powers in her modern form.

If your character was in animal form, they would arrive in human form, but have the option to shapeshift. For example, the Big Bad Wolf could shift into a wolf if you wanted.

Even though abilities and shapeshifting are possible in Everview, keep in mind that it is still part of the modern world. Keeping such things secret is important!

memories
A character keeps their memories from their life in the world of fairy tales. No character should wander into the city wondering who they are and how they got there. They do not have false memories implanted upon their arrival, but are simply given a folder containing background information on their alias. What that background contains is up to you! Just keep in mind your character needs to remember all of it when they're strolling about.

This folder is not made invisible by magic or locked away from the public. It is an actual object that, if discovered by the wrong person, could create a lot of trouble. Just an interesting idea to keep in mind. ;)

NOTE: Your character's memories are erased if they ever decide to move to another city. You can visit other places, but once you purchase a home outside of Everview, your memories are erased and you become your alias. Of course, memories will return over time once you move back to Everview, but the process takes several months.

living arrangements
Once transported into the city, characters are given basic living arrangements. Usually the organization offers a small, two bedroom apartment, or a very small house with a few bedrooms. The arrangements offered to characters are paid partially by the organization, with other portions paid by the characters.

Employment is arranged prior to moving. Characters are generally offered entry-level positions that best fit their characteristic traits. However, money speaks volumes and jobs of higher standing are given to those who willingly donate to the organization. The same goes for living arrangements. Blackmailing members of the organization on dirt and personal scandals also go a long way.

Characters are free to move to a new home in the city or find employment elsewhere, but they are required to live in the city. If you move to another city, your memories are erased (see "Memories" for more details).
